Medical uses:

Kineret (Anakinra 100 mg / 0.67 mL solution) is an interleukin-1 receptor antagonist used for:

  • Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA): It helps reduce signs and symptoms and slows the progression of structural damage in adults (18 years and older) with moderately to severely active RA who have not responded well to one or more disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs).
  • Cryopyrin-Associated Periodic Syndromes (CAPS): It is used to treat Neonatal-Onset Multisystem Inflammatory Disease (NOMID).

Kineret (Anakinra) is an FDA-approved medication.

Warnings & Precautions:

Avoid using Kineret 100 mg in patients who have a known allergy to E. coli-derived proteins, Kineret itself, or any of its components.

It is not recommended to administer Kineret injections in combination with TNF blocking agents.

Before starting anakinra injections, neutrophil counts should be checked. During treatment, these counts should be monitored monthly for the first three months, and then quarterly for up to a year.

Do not begin treatment with anakinra in patients who have active infections.

Kineret® should be stored in the refrigerator at 36°F to 46°F (2°C to 8°C). Do not freeze the medication. If necessary, it can be kept at room temperature (below 77°F or 25°C) for up to 12 hours, but should not be refrigerated again once it has reached room temperature.

Can Kineret® be used with other medications?
