Medical uses:

Feraccru contains the active ingredient ferric maltol and is produced by Shield Therapeutics plc. It is an iron-containing medication used to treat iron deficiency in adults.

Recommended Dosage: Feraccru is available in 30 mg capsules. The recommended dose is one 30 mg capsule taken orally twice daily, in the morning and evening, on an empty stomach. The capsules should be swallowed whole with half a glass of water. Taking Feraccru with food can reduce iron absorption.

Do not administer Feraccru capsules to individuals experiencing an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) flare or those with hemoglobin (Hb) levels below 9.5 g/dL and IBD.

Avoid concomitant use of ferric maltol 30 mg capsules with intravenous iron, methyldopa, dimercaprol, or chloramphenicol.

Lactose Content: Feraccru contains lactose. Individuals with rare hereditary conditions such as total lactase deficiency, galactose intolerance, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not use this product.

Allergic Reactions: Feraccru contains Sunset Yellow FCF (E 110) and Allura Red AC (E 129), which may cause allergic reactions.

Accidental Overdose: Iron-containing products can cause fatal poisoning in children under 6 years old. Keep Feraccru 30 mg capsules out of reach of children. In case of accidental overdose, seek medical attention immediately.
