Medical uses:
Aduhelm is an antibody targeting amyloid beta, used in treating Alzheimer’s disease (AD). It’s recommended to begin treatment in patients experiencing mild cognitive impairment or in the early stages of dementia. For inquiries, please Call/WhatsApp: +91 9310090915.
Dosage Instructions: After an initial titration period, the advised dosage of Aduhelm is 10 mg/kg. This is administered via an intravenous (IV) infusion over about 60 minutes, every four weeks, with a minimum interval of 21 days between doses.
If a dose is missed, resume the infusion at the same dosage as soon as possible. Ensure that infusions are scheduled every four weeks, maintaining at least a 21-day gap between them.
Warnings & Precautions:
Aduhelm 170 mg therapy can lead to amyloid-related imaging abnormalities-edema (ARIA-E), visible on MRI as brain edema or sulcal effusions, and amyloid-related imaging abnormalities-hemosiderin deposition (ARIA-H), which includes microhemorrhages and superficial siderosis.
Pre-Treatment Requirements: Obtain a recent brain MRI (within the last 12 months) before starting treatment. The safety of Aduhelm in patients with pre-existing localized superficial siderosis, 10 or more brain microhemorrhages, or a brain hemorrhage larger than 1 cm within 12 months prior to therapy initiation has not been established.
Monitoring: Brain MRIs should be conducted before the 7th infusion (first dose of 10 mg/kg) and the 12th infusion (sixth dose of 10 mg/kg) of Aduhelm 300 mg to check for asymptomatic ARIA. Enhanced clinical vigilance is required for patients with radiographic findings of ARIA.
Adverse Reactions: Urticaria and angioedema were reported in one patient during the placebo-controlled period of Studies 1 and 2, emerging during the infusion. If any symptoms of a hypersensitivity reaction are observed, immediately discontinue the infusion and initiate appropriate therapy.
