Details:

Medical uses:

Evkeeza is an injectable medication that inhibits ANGPTL3 (angiopoietin-like 3). It is used alongside other LDL-C (low-density lipoprotein cholesterol) lowering treatments to manage homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HoFH) in adults and children aged 12 and older.

Dosage Instructions: The recommended dosage is 15 mg/kg, administered via intravenous (IV) infusion every 4 weeks. Ensure that Evkeeza is not mixed with other medications or administered simultaneously through the same infusion line.

Administration Notes: If a patient experiences side effects such as hypersensitivity reactions, the infusion rate may need to be adjusted, paused, or stopped.

Missed Dose: If a dose is missed, it should be administered as soon as possible. To maintain effectiveness, schedule the medication monthly from the last dose.

Warnings & Precautions:

Assess low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) levels as clinically indicated. The LDL-C lowering effect of Evkeeza (Evinacumab-dgnb) can be observed as early as 14 days after starting treatment.

Contraindications: Evkeeza 15 mg/mL injection should not be used by individuals with a history of serious hypersensitivity reactions to this medication or any of its components. Serious hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis, have been reported.

Pregnancy Warning: Studies suggest that Evkeeza may cause fetal harm if administered to pregnant patients. Individuals who could become pregnant should use effective contraception during treatment and for at least 5 months after the final dose.

Breastfeeding Considerations: It is unclear if evinacumab is excreted in human milk. Human IgGs can be present in breast milk during the first few days postpartum, decreasing to low levels soon after. Therefore, there is a potential risk to the breastfed infant during this period. Afterward, Evkeeza may be used while breastfeeding if clinically necessary.
