Medical Use
Voxzogo is a C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP) analog designed to promote linear growth in children aged 5 years and older with achondroplasia, provided they have open growth plates (epiphyses).
Recommended Dosage: The dosage of Voxzogo is determined by the child’s actual body weight. Typically, the dose is 15 µg/kg of body weight, administered via subcutaneous injection once daily. It’s best to administer the injection at the same time each day. The volume of the injection depends on the child’s weight and the concentration of the reconstituted Voxzogo solution (either 0.8 mg/mL or 2 mg/mL). The medication must be reconstituted before use.
Missed Dose: If a dose is missed, it can be given within 12 hours of the scheduled time. If more than 12 hours have passed, skip the missed dose and continue with the next scheduled dose.
Warning & Precautions
Regularly monitor and assess the patient’s body weight, growth, and physical development every 3 to 6 months. Adjust the dosage according to the patient’s current body weight.
To minimize the risk of low blood pressure and related symptoms (such as nausea, dizziness, and fatigue), ensure patients are well-hydrated and have eaten adequately before receiving a vosoritide injection.
Discontinue vosoritide treatment permanently once it is confirmed that there is no further growth potential, indicated by the closure of the growth plates (epiphyses).
It is recommended to rotate the injection site each time, avoiding the same location on consecutive days. Do not inject vosoritide into birthmarks, moles, scars, or areas that are tender, bruised, red, or hard.
If you or your child are undergoing vosoritide treatment and are pregnant, breastfeeding, suspect you might be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, consult your healthcare provider before continuing therapy. Vosoritide is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
