What is Named Patient Purchase (NPP)?

A Named Patient Program (NPP) or sometime called as, Managed Access Program provides patients and respective clinician access to commercially approved medicines that are not available to them in their own country. These medicines must be approved in at least a single country, from which it can be imported into the patient’s territory/country under a Named Patient Program (NPP).

The innovator companies rarely plan to launch their drug/s in all the regions of the world. In such cases, clinician may be able to access much-needed medicines for rare disease, orphan disease, life-threatening, long-lasting, or seriously debilitating illness/disease from another country, to treat their specific patients, through a Named Patient Program (NPP).

The request must be unsolicited in all cases, and the following parameters must be met:

• The patient have a life-threatening, long-term, or severely debilitating condition. There are presently no approved medicines available for managing the disease or problem effectively. The patient is unable to participate in a continuing clinical experiment. The medicine/therapy must be in clinical testing or be in the application process for marketing authorization. Any Named Patient Program (NPP) requires that the product's benefit-risk profile be appraised as favourable for the eligible patients based on the most current available data, and that the intended use fall within the limitations of the product's unique indication.

• This programs enables treating physicians to make individual requests for specific patients under this Program.

• These could be medicine that have been approved but are not yet readily accessible for prescription in the patient's country. The patient from any country recognized as 'the Named Patient' and suffering from a chronic, serious, or life-threatening disease has the right to access, procure, and import medicines that have life-saving potentiality or improve the quality of life of the patient. To obtain these life-saving medications, the Indian government created a provision allowing access to these medicines under the label of Named Patient Purchase (NPP). With previous approval from the Indian drug authority and customs department, these medicines can be obtained through medical distributors across the world.

The steps that follow can be taken by both the patient and the physician:

  • Patients complete the request form and share necessary prerequisites to initiate the formalities.
  • Upon confirmation of medicine, the supplier will generate a Pro-Forma Invoice describing the medication, the price, the shipping cost, and any additional costs that may apply.
  • Once payment is received, the product will be delivered directly to the patient.
  • We will support patient in import and customs related processes.

Without a valid doctor's prescription, medicine cannot be dispensed, consult your doctor before placing an order.

Once an order is placed and accepted, our team will source the product and confirm the current price, Shipment charges would be added on top of that.The fees are calculated based on the import country, regulatory norm and supply condition. Many products require special shipment conditions, such as temperature control. These types of shipments are more expensive than products that can be shipped at room temperature. Shipment charges thus include the cost of courier, documentation, and customs clearance from the authority.
