Vyndaqel is a medication that stabilizes transthyretin, used to treat cardiomyopathy caused by wild type or hereditary transthyretin-mediated amyloidosis (ATTR-CM) in adults. It helps reduce cardiovascular mortality and hospitalizations related to heart issues.
Recommended Dosage :
Take 80 mg of Vyndaqel daily, which equals four 20 mg tafamidis meglumine capsules. Swallow the capsules whole without crushing or cutting them. You can take this medication with or without food.
If you vomit after taking Vyndaqel and see the intact capsule, take another dose if possible. If you don’t see the capsule, do not take an additional dose. Continue with your regular dosing schedule the next day.
Warning & Precautions
Vyndaqel capsules should be included in the standard care regimen for treating patients with ATTR-PN. Healthcare professionals should regularly evaluate patients and consider the need for additional therapies, including liver transplantation, as part of this care.
Since there is no evidence supporting the use of tafamidis meglumine capsules after liver transplantation, it should be discontinued in patients who undergo this procedure.
Each 20 mg Vyndaqel capsule contains up to 44 mg of sorbitol, a source of fructose. The combined intake of sorbitol from this medication and other sources should be considered, as it may affect the bioavailability of other orally administered medicines.
Studies indicate that Vyndaqel may cause harm to a fetus if taken during pregnancy. Therefore, pregnancy planning and prevention are advised for women of childbearing potential.
Research has shown that tafamidis is excreted in human milk, posing a potential risk to newborns or infants. Consequently, it is not recommended to use tafamidis meglumine while breastfeeding.
Based on its pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties, tafamidis meglumine is not expected to impair the ability to drive or operate machinery.
