OLYSIO is an NS3/4A protease inhibitor used to treat chronic hepatitis C (CHC) infection as part of a combination antiviral therapy regimen.
- -The effectiveness of OLYSIO has been demonstrated when used with peginterferon alfa and ribavirin in patients with HCV genotype 1 and compensated liver disease, including cirrhosis.
- -OLYSIO should not be used alone.
- -It is highly recommended to screen patients with HCV genotype 1a for the NS3 Q80K polymorphism before starting treatment. If the Q80K polymorphism is present, consider alternative therapies.
Warning & Precautions
OLYSIO should not be used as monotherapy.
When combined with peginterferon alfa and ribavirin, it is strongly recommended to screen patients with HCV genotype 1a for the NS3 Q80K polymorphism. If the Q80K polymorphism is detected, alternative treatments should be considered.
OLYSIO is not advised for patients with moderate to severe hepatic impairment (Child–Pugh Class B or C).
Additionally, OLYSIO is not recommended for patients who have previously failed treatment regimens that included OLYSIO or other HCV protease inhibitors.
