Medical Use

Synribo is a medication used to treat adults with specific forms of chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) that are resistant to or have not improved after treatment with at least two tyrosine kinase inhibitors, a class of anticancer drugs. Additionally, Synribo is being researched for its potential in treating other cancers. It works by inhibiting certain proteins involved in cell growth, which may lead to the destruction of cancer cells. Synribo is classified as a plant alkaloid and a protein synthesis inhibitor. It is also known by the names homoharringtonine and omacetaxine mepesuccinate.
