Medical Use

Radicut (Edaravone) is a free radical scavenger approved as a neurovascular protective agent for:

  • -Improving neurological symptoms, daily living activities, and functional disorders associated with acute ischemic stroke (AIS).
  • -Slowing the progression of functional disorders in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as motor neuron disease (MND).

Recommended Dosage:

Acute Ischemic Stroke (AIS):

  • -The typical adult dosage is 30 mg, diluted with an appropriate volume of physiological saline, administered intravenously over 30 minutes, twice daily (morning and evening).
  • -Treatment should begin within 24 hours of symptom onset and continue for up to 14 days.

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS):

  • -The recommended dosage is 60 mg, administered as an intravenous (IV) infusion over 60 minutes once daily, following this schedule:
    • -Initial treatment cycle: Daily dosing for 14 days, followed by a 14-day drug-free period.
    • -Subsequent cycles: Daily dosing for 10 out of 14 days, followed by a 14-day drug-free period.
  • -Each 60 mg dose should be given as two consecutive 30 mg IV infusions over 60 minutes (infusion rate approximately 1 mg/minute or 3.33 mL/minute).
  • -Immediately stop the infusion if any signs or symptoms of a hypersensitivity reaction occur.
