- -Treatment should begin within 24 hours of symptom onset and continue for up to 14 days.
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS):
- -The recommended dosage is 60 mg, administered as an intravenous (IV) infusion over 60 minutes once daily, following this schedule:
- -Initial treatment cycle: Daily dosing for 14 days, followed by a 14-day drug-free period.
- -Subsequent cycles: Daily dosing for 10 out of 14 days, followed by a 14-day drug-free period.
- -Each 60 mg dose should be given as two consecutive 30 mg IV infusions over 60 minutes (infusion rate approximately 1 mg/minute or 3.33 mL/minute).
- -Immediately stop the infusion if any signs or symptoms of a hypersensitivity reaction occur.
Warning & Precautions
Radicut should be administered under the supervision of an experienced physician who is well-versed in this medication and has substantial experience in treating acute ischemic stroke (AIS) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
Before administration, patients or their designated proxies must be thoroughly informed about potential side effects and other relevant information.
Potential Risks:
- -Use of Radicut may lead to severe liver disorders, acute renal failure or impairment, or disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC), which can be fatal. Critical cases involving concurrent hepatic impairment, renal impairment, and hematological disorders have been observed.
- -Renal and hepatic function tests, along with blood cell counts, should be conducted to detect early changes in BUN, AST (GOT), creatinine, ALT (GPT), LDH, CK (CPK), RBC count, and platelet count before or shortly after administration, as laboratory findings may deteriorate early in treatment.
- -Patients with dehydration, elevated BUN/creatinine ratios, or other signs should be closely monitored during treatment due to the risk of fatal outcomes.
- -Elderly patients require careful monitoring as several fatal incidents have been reported in this group.
- -Radicut is not recommended for pregnant women or those who may become pregnant. Breastfeeding should be avoided during treatment.
