Firazyr (icatibant) is a synthetic peptide used to treat acute attacks of hereditary angioedema (HAE) in adults aged 18 and older. HAE can cause sudden swelling in various parts of the body, including the hands, feet, limbs, face, intestinal tract, larynx, or trachea, potentially leading to disfigurement, disability, or even death.
Warning & Precautions
Before starting this medication, patient should doctor about all its medical conditions, any heart or blood pressure medications patient is taking, and if patient is pregnant or breastfeeding. Seek emergency medical help if patient experience swelling of tongue or throat during an angioedema attack.
An allergic reaction to icatibant can mimic hereditary angioedema symptoms, such as hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Do not exceed three Firazyr injections within a 24-hour period. Contact doctor if the symptoms do not improve or worsen after using this medication.
