FAQ
What is Increlex used for?
INCRELEX is used to treat children who are significantly shorter than their peers due to a lack of insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) in their bodies, a condition known as Severe Primary IGF-1 Deficiency (SPIGFD).
How does Increlex work?
The mechanism of action for INCRELEX involves the activation of the type 1 IGF-1 receptor in target tissues, which is similar to the insulin receptor. This activation triggers intracellular signaling that promotes various processes leading to growth in stature.
What are the side effects of Increlex?
Common side effects of INCRELEX include hypoglycemia, reactions at the injection site, allergic reactions, and enlarged tonsils. If your child experiences any bothersome or persistent side effects, contact their doctor. Note that this is not an exhaustive list of potential side effects.
When was Increlex approved by the FDA?
INCRELEX was approved by the FDA on August 30, 2005.
